Saudi Health Ministry Launches Nationwide Bariatric Surgery Safety Campaign

Date:

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health has launched a nationwide campaign to boost awareness and ensure strict adherence to regulations governing bariatric surgery. The initiative aims to improve patient safety and ensure that all obesity-related procedures are carried out only in properly licensed medical facilities.
The campaign highlights the mandatory requirements for performing bariatric surgery, including the need for authorized healthcare providers to operate strictly within their licensed scope. It also emphasizes the necessity of informing patients about their medical conditions, surgical risks and possible complications before proceeding with treatment.
As part of its efforts, the ministry has begun inspection rounds across the Kingdom to verify compliance with core health regulations, including laws governing healthcare professionals, healthcare institutions, medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
By reinforcing oversight and promoting transparent communication between doctors and patients, the ministry aims to enhance safety standards and maintain the quality of obesity-related surgical services nationwide.
