Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States, Princess Reema bint Bandar, reaffirmed that the two-state solution is the only viable route to achieving justice, peace, and stability in the ongoing Palestine-Israel conflict.
Speaking during a major international conference co-led by Saudi Arabia and France at the United Nations, Princess Reema emphasized that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, rising despair in the West Bank, and ongoing insecurity in Israel demand immediate global action. She stated, “The suffering in Gaza, the despair in the West Bank, and the insecurity in Israel demand a new reality.”
Reema highlighted that Saudi Arabia’s commitment to the two-state solution is rooted not only in diplomacy but also in moral and strategic necessity. “This is not merely a diplomatic position; it is a moral, strategic, and practical necessity grounded in justice and the pursuit of a shared future,” she wrote.
She explained that the two-state framework directly addresses the root causes of the conflict, particularly the denial of Palestinian self-determination and the conditions that fuel extremism. Saudi Arabia, she noted, has long championed peaceful solutions through initiatives like the Arab Peace Initiative.
The humanitarian toll in Gaza remains dire, with nearly two million Palestinians displaced and famine looming. Aid has slowly resumed after an extended blockade, but Princess Reema warned that only a permanent political solution can rebuild Gaza and create a future of coexistence.
“The war in Gaza and the broader conflicts in the region underscore the urgency of this moment,” she concluded.
