Saudia Launches Direct Flights Between Riyadh and Moscow to Boost Tourism and Ties

Date:

Saudia has officially launched direct flights between Riyadh and Moscow, marking a milestone in the airline’s international expansion and supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals. The move strengthens diplomatic, cultural, and economic ties between the two countries while enhancing tourism and connectivity.
The launch was celebrated with ceremonies in both Riyadh and Moscow, culminating in a gala dinner, Wings of Connection, attended by Saudi and Russian officials, including the Saudi ambassador to Russia and Saudia’s director general, Ibrahim Al-Omar. Russian Ambassador Sergey Kozlov called the first flight “the beginning of a history that will undoubtedly continue for a long time,” highlighting the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Al-Omar emphasized that the new route will foster economic growth, boost tourism, and reinforce bilateral relations. Saudia currently operates a fleet of 149 aircraft, with 116 more on order, serving over 100 destinations globally. The airline aims to reach 145 destinations by 2030, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 targets to attract tourists, serve pilgrims, and enhance global connectivity.
The inaugural flight was greeted in Moscow with a traditional water salute, symbolizing the start of a long-term initiative to connect Saudi Arabia with Russia and expand the Kingdom’s presence in international aviation.
