Elon Musk has launched his “America Party,” declaring war on what he perceives as government “waste & graft.” The billionaire’s new political entity aims to gain decisive influence in Congress by strategically targeting a few pivotal House and Senate seats, leveraging the current narrow legislative margins to ensure laws align with “the true will of the people.”
The official formation of the “America Party” on Saturday followed an X poll Musk conducted on Independence Day, which revealed strong public support for a new political option. Musk has consistently criticized the established two-party system, labeling it a “uniparty” that he believes contributes to national debt and a lack of true representation.
This political venture comes after a public dispute between Musk and President Donald Trump, specifically over a recent $3.3 trillion spending bill. Despite his prior financial support for Trump’s campaign and a role in his administration, Musk vocally opposed the bill, threatening to form a new party if it passed, viewing it as a symbol of governmental waste.
The narrow passage of that spending bill (218-214 in the House, Vance breaking a 50-50 tie in the Senate) reinforces Musk’s belief that even a small number of strategically placed “America Party” representatives could hold significant power. His plan is to achieve outsized influence and force a re-evaluation of legislative priorities.
