US Trust Dives in Australia, China Rises as Perceived Global Leader

New research shows Australian trust in the US diving to a new low, as a majority of Australians now perceive China as the world’s future global leader by 2035. These findings indicate a significant reorientation in Australia’s international perspectives.

Nevertheless, a substantial portion of the populace maintains distrust towards China, anticipating it will become a military threat to Australia within the next two decades. Despite these concerns, and a noticeable dip in confidence, a majority of Australians still expect the US to defend them in the event of an attack.
