Arab Stock Trading Jumps 28.8% in July; Transaction Value Drops

Date:

In July, Arab stock markets experienced a notable surge in trading activity, with the volume of shares exchanged climbing by 28.82% compared to June. The total trading volume reached 261.86 billion shares, up from 203.27 billion shares the previous month. This uptick was primarily propelled by increases on the Iraq Stock Exchange, with Egypt also contributing to the heightened activity.

Despite the rise in traded shares, the overall value of transactions in the region saw a decline, dropping 16.82% to $90.24 billion, down from $108.48 billion in June. Several major markets, including those in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait, experienced reductions in transaction values.

Performance across regional stock markets remained mixed during this period. Egypt’s EGX30 index stood out as a strong performer, with a gain of 5.85% over the month. Meanwhile, other regional exchanges also posted gains, although the overall performance varied.

The combined market capitalization of Arab stock exchanges showed minimal change, inching up by 0.06% to approximately $4.31 trillion. This slight increase indicates stability in the market’s total value, despite the fluctuations in trading volume and transaction values.

The data underscores a dynamic trading environment in Arab markets, marked by increased share activity, even as transaction values softened and market performances varied across different exchanges.
