Michael Madsen, ‘Donnie Brasco’ Star, Dies Peacefully

Michael Madsen, the versatile actor known for his roles including that in Donnie Brasco, has died peacefully at 67. His manager confirmed the cause of death as cardiac arrest, following his discovery at his Malibu home on Thursday morning.
Madsen’s long and impactful career encompassed a wide range of films, though he was perhaps best known for his collaborations with Quentin Tarantino. His ability to portray both menacing figures and more subtle characters showcased his breadth as an actor. Other notable films include Species and The Hateful Eight.
His sister, actress Virginia Madsen, paid a moving tribute, reflecting on his complex personality: “A poet disguised as an outlaw.” This speaks to the depth and nuance Madsen brought to his life and performances.
Even in his later years, Madsen continued to pursue artistic endeavors, working on new independent films and preparing his book of poetry for publication. His unique screen presence and dedication to his craft will be profoundly missed.
