Direct Flights Launching in 2026 to Enhance Riyadh-Tokyo Business Links

Date:

Saudi Arabia’s national airline, Saudia, has announced plans to initiate direct flights between Riyadh and Tokyo, starting in November 2026. This new route will see three weekly flights departing from Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. The launch is part of a collaborative effort with the Air Connectivity Program and the Saudi Tourism Authority, aiming to strengthen travel and tourism ties between the two nations.

The introduction of this route is expected to significantly enhance tourism, trade, and business exchanges between Saudi Arabia and Japan. By providing an additional international connection, the flights aim to increase accessibility to Saudi Arabia, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. This vision, along with the National Aviation Strategy and National Tourism Strategy, seeks to position Saudi Arabia as a central global hub for tourism and logistics.

The Saudi Tourism Authority is actively working with partners in Japan to create travel packages that highlight Saudi Arabia as a compelling destination for Japanese tourists. This initiative complements the new flight path and is designed to boost the number of visitors from Japan. As Saudi Arabia prepares to host the AFC Asian Cup in 2027, the new flight route is expected to facilitate easier travel for the event, demonstrating the Kingdom’s commitment to improving its international travel links and supporting major sporting events.

Saudia currently operates flights to more than 100 destinations globally and is in the process of expanding its fleet. The airline plans to add 112 new aircraft, a move that will support its mission to extend its global reach and enhance service offerings. This expansion is part of Saudia’s broader strategy to strengthen its position as a leading international carrier.
