Pakistan Deploys Troops to Saudi Arabia Under Makkah Joint Defence Agreement

Date:

Pakistan has confirmed the deployment of a significant number of its military personnel to Saudi Arabia as part of a joint defence agreement aimed at bolstering the kingdom’s territorial defence. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan, the stationed forces and resources in Riyadh are intended for defensive purposes, not for engaging in cross-border attacks against Yemen’s Houthi forces. This clarification underscores the deployment’s focus on protecting Saudi territory.

The Pakistani military further verified that its personnel are operating in Saudi Arabia across various operational capacities under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement. This agreement, signed on August 7, 2026, in Makkah, involves Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and TĂĽrkiye. It establishes a collective defence framework, ensuring that an armed attack against one member is considered an attack against all, thereby promoting closer regional security cooperation among the three nations.

The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement marks a significant step in regional security collaborations, reflecting the strategic importance of mutual defence commitments among these countries. The pact not only strengthens bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia but also involves TĂĽrkiye, highlighting a broader regional alliance amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.

While the specifics of the military deployment remain undisclosed, the confirmation from Pakistani officials emphasizes their commitment to the agreement’s defensive nature. This deployment aligns with the countries’ shared interests in maintaining regional stability and security, particularly in light of ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.

The announcement of this deployment comes amid heightened security challenges in the region, with the agreement providing a structured response to potential threats. By reinforcing their military collaboration, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and TĂĽrkiye aim to deter aggression and ensure the security of their territories.
