Saudi Arabia and France to Enhance Library Collaboration Through Digital Initiatives

Saudi Arabia and France are enhancing their partnership in the library sector, focusing on digital preservation, knowledge exchange, and professional training. The discussions took place in Riyadh between Abdulrahman Al-Asem, the CEO of Saudi Arabia’s Libraries Commission, and Patrick Maisonnave, the French Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

The meeting centered on exploring further cooperation through an executive program between the Saudi Libraries Commission and the National Library of France. This program aims to digitize library materials, exchange electronic copies, and develop digital collections, alongside providing training opportunities.

Both parties also reviewed plans for joint projects slated for 2026, which are expected to expand cultural and knowledge-based cooperation between the two nations. The collaboration signifies a strategic effort to share expertise and resources in the library sector, fostering greater cultural ties.
