Saudi FM Demands Accountability for Violence by West Bank Settlers

Date:

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, has called for a tougher international stance to hold Israeli settlers accountable for their actions against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. Addressing an interfaith dialogue gathering in Rome, Prince Faisal emphasized the urgent need to cease these attacks, cautioning that the ongoing settlement expansion and violence could jeopardize the feasibility of a two-state solution.

Highlighting efforts made by several countries, Prince Faisal praised initiatives such as imposing sanctions on individuals associated with severe human rights abuses, implementing travel restrictions, and enforcing bans on importing goods from Israeli settlements. He stressed that enhanced accountability measures are essential to safeguarding Palestinian rights and advancing sustainable peace in the region.

Furthermore, Prince Faisal reiterated Saudi Arabia’s firm stance against altering the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and its sacred sites. He underscored the significance of diplomacy and international collaboration in progressing towards a comprehensive peace process.

His remarks come at a critical time as tensions continue to rise in the region, underscoring the critical need for concerted global efforts to address the ongoing conflict and its impact on the prospects for peace.
