Trump Commended by Saudi FM for Efforts in Iran War Diplomacy

Date:

Saudi Arabia has expressed strong approval for U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent decision to prioritize diplomatic efforts in resolving the conflict with Iran. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan conveyed this sentiment on Wednesday, highlighting the significance of seeking a peaceful resolution to the tensions that have impacted the region.

In a message posted on X, Prince Faisal articulated the Kingdom’s commendation of Trump’s choice to halt a planned military strike on Iran. The decision was aimed at paving the way for negotiations to address ongoing disputes and restore security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, reverting to conditions before February 28, 2026. This approach is seen as essential for maintaining regional stability and security.

The foreign minister’s statement followed President Trump’s announcement on Monday that he had postponed military action against Iran. This move came in response to requests from Gulf nations, as serious diplomatic negotiations were reportedly underway. Trump shared on Truth Social that leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates had urged him to hold off on the attack.

Emphasizing the importance of seizing this diplomatic opportunity, Prince Faisal urged Iran to avoid further escalation and engage constructively in the negotiations. He expressed hope for a comprehensive agreement that would secure lasting peace both in the region and globally.

In addition to acknowledging the diplomatic efforts led by President Trump, Prince Faisal also recognized Pakistan’s role in mediating the conflict. The Kingdom’s appreciation for these collaborative efforts underscores the importance of international cooperation in resolving complex geopolitical issues.
