South Korea and Saudi Arabia Boost Collaboration in AI and Digital Tech

Saudi Arabia and South Korea have strengthened their ties in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and technology investment following high-level meetings in Seoul. These discussions underscore a mutual commitment to fostering innovation and propelling both nations forward in the digital economy.

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Al-Swaha, along with Haytham Al-Ohali, Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, engaged with senior South Korean officials to explore opportunities in AI, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure. The main focus of these discussions was to bolster innovation and advance Saudi Arabia’s goal of becoming a global leader in artificial intelligence.

The Saudi delegation also deliberated on improving digital government services through cooperation in unified government platforms and digital identity systems. They specifically examined how AI could enhance public services, including potential collaborations between Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority and South Korea’s Ministry of the Interior.

Another significant aspect of the visit was Al-Swaha’s meeting with the founder and CEO of APL Ventures, where they discussed investment opportunities and strategies to support Saudi startups. This includes expanding their presence in international markets and encouraging technology investment in Saudi Arabia.

This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy aimed at reinforcing global technology partnerships, attracting substantial investments, and accelerating the development of a digital economy driven by artificial intelligence.
