Middle Eastern Nations Urge Two-State Solution and Regional De-escalation

Date:

Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan have jointly called for immediate diplomatic efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state and address the rising tensions across the Middle East. The foreign ministers of these nations, following discussions in Istanbul, reaffirmed their commitment to a two-state resolution based on the 1967 borders, designating East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.

The ministers emphasized the urgent need to halt Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, to curb settler violence, and to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. They also highlighted the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, urging all parties to seek a lasting negotiated settlement and to avoid further military escalation.

Additionally, the coalition of countries condemned Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and Yemen, particularly those affecting civilians and critical infrastructure. Demonstrating solidarity with Saudi Arabia, they called on the Houthis to cease military actions and return to the negotiating table.

Maritime security was another significant topic of discussion, with the ministers denouncing attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait. They warned that such disruptions could jeopardize global supply chains and the movement of essential commodities, including oil, food, and fertilizers. The ministers stressed the necessity of restoring safe and unrestricted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz to safeguard international maritime trade.

Separately, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar to discuss bilateral relations, the situation in Yemen, and regional security. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to enhancing cooperation and supporting peace, stability, and freedom of navigation in the region.
