Yemen Food Security Boosted by $10M Project from KSrelief, UK.

Date:

In a collaborative effort to bolster food security in Yemen, Saudi Arabia’s aid organization, KSrelief, and the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office have announced a joint initiative worth $10 million. This project is designed to assist vulnerable Yemeni communities by enhancing long-term resilience and access to essential resources.

Both KSrelief and the UK will contribute $5 million each to this initiative, which will be executed by the United Nations World Food Programme. The project will focus on the governorates of Al-Mahrah, Hadramout, Aden, Al-Dhale, and Lahij, targeting areas where support is urgently needed to improve living conditions.

The program aims to provide conditional cash transfers to help families gain better access to food and restore productive infrastructure. Additionally, it seeks to enable a transition from emergency food assistance to a more sustainable, self-reliant model for these communities.

Aside from direct food assistance, the initiative also includes elements such as vocational training, support for local governance, and strategies for sustainable management of community assets. These components are designed to ensure that the benefits of the project extend beyond immediate relief, fostering a framework for long-term development and stability.

This latest agreement is part of Saudi Arabia’s extensive humanitarian efforts through KSrelief, which has successfully implemented over 4,400 aid projects in 113 countries since 2015, with a total investment exceeding $8.5 billion. The initiative reflects a continuing commitment to addressing global humanitarian challenges and supporting communities in crisis.
